How to downgrade your iPhone to firmware 2.2 to 2.1

3049601024_8cbb406616This is one of the most sought after guides, this mainly because the firmware update 2.2 has surprised many people who accidentally updated your iPhone. But what is of particular version is? Well, actually there are not many but one that stands out on the other: a new version of the iPhone BASEband (02.30.03), which certainly will not allow you to use YellowSn0w, and you have released an iPhone (jailbroken) you really feel hands tied a bit. However, there is always an outlet for all this time in fact you have two options to choose: one is to return your iPhone to a previous firmware version (2.1) and the other is to use the tools that the Team will make power to restore your BASEband, so you can upgrade to version 2.2 without the BASEband amended.

Here we will explain the two processes, for both Mac and Windows, in fact this weekend will be for that and immediately started with the first alternative.

Personally, I must say that this is not my favorite method, but is also an option. Furthermore, before starting I think it is worth recalling that what we are going to do do so at their own risk and that we are not responsible for any damage that may cause your device.

How To Put The iPhone Into DFU Mode

Ziphone Blog
If you are getting error (1) or error (6) while downgrading the firmware, you need to put your iPhone in DFU mode before you can restore or downgrade the firmware.
Step 1. Turn off your iPhone.
Step 2. Hold down the power and home button.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that its in restore mode.
Alternative Method:
Step 1. Connect iphone to USB then listen to the sound when it connect and disconnect.
Step 2. Hold the home and power buttons until hear the disconnect sound then release power button.
Step 3. Wait until you hear another sound then release home button.

Alternate Method: Going Into DFU Mode Without Button Pushing: (on windows) Easier than timing the buttons just right!

1.) First download the required archive DFU
2.) Extract the archive to the root of your hard drive, should be C:/DFU/
3.) Connect your iPhone and ignore iTunes
4.) Goto Start - run
5.) Next type in “c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu”
6.) Wait for iPhone to show a “white” screen
7.) Now you may proceed to downgrade!
**also these files are found in ibrickr’s directory except for the .dfu file**

Copy & Paste on the iPhone

In my oppinion the iPhone is the best mobile phone, but it is not perfect! Appart from MMS and a turn by turn navigation software, Apple also missed to put copy & paste into the iPhone. But, as you may know, there is a solution for every problem! For copy and paste on the iPhone, there are two realy good ones! The only problem is, that they both only work when your iPhone keyboard is opened.
The first solution is called "Clippy" and is available via Cydia in version 0.95-4. It was the first real copy & paste solution for the iPhone, but it is still in Beta. It is realy easy to use! After installing it just go to the text you want to copy. Double-tap at the place you want to start marking the text an then hold it (left picture). Now just mark it like on a computer. If the text is marked, just hold the "123" button for a while until you can see something similar to the picture in the middle above. Now just tap "Cut" or "Copy" and the text will be saved to your Stack. If you want to Paste something just tap at the position, where the text should be, and hold the "123" button like before. Tap "Stack" and select what you want to paste (right picture). If you tap "Paste" the uppermost text will be inserted.
This copy and paste solution is also available via Cydia. It solves the same problem as Clippy, but it works very different. It is just packed into a "international" keyboard. So after downloading it you have to activate it first (Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> International Keyboard -> hClipboard). To open it, just tap the "world" next to the space bar. There are 2 ways to copy a text with hClipboard:1. Copy the whole text: just tap "copy"2. Copy a part of a text: tap, where you want to start to copy and then tap "Select from here". Now go to the end and tap "Select to here and copy"To paste something, just tap on the text you copied before.ConclusionI tested both and both are realy good and easy to use. So there is no better one. Maybe Clippy is better if you use many international keyboards. You have to decide on your own which one is best for you.

Ziphone Blog
error 1013 - 1014 - 1015
This error message occurs when you downgrade or upgrade to a different baseband than the firmware your restoring to has. This message does NOT mean the restore failed - it simply means the phone firmware does not match the baseband.
1. Disconnect the iPhone3G from iTunes when it comes across the error 1013. (Actually the firmware 2.2 is already successfully installed)2. Launch Quick Unlocker 2.2-1 at this time, quick will pop up a window telling you to hold down both of the power & home buttons for 15 seconds then release the home button but keep holding the power button for another 2 seconds to re-activate your iPhone3G.3. Then you will see a white apple as usual and the iPhone 3G is now re-activating.4. You can see a normal screen with those lovely icons and your service back to normal.5. Jailbreak it using the ready launched Quick Unlocker tool.

redsn0w Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1

Ziphone Blog
redsn0w Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1
This is for Mac only. But you should be able to find (or work outon your own) how to do it on Windows or Linux too.
—————————————————————————–rslite—————————————————————————–This is an interface to the DFU and Recovery modes of the device. Itrequires you to have libusb installed on your Mac.
Due to buggy interaction between libusb and the Apple device, any outputthat is long gets all chewed up. But if you stick to just the “!” andthe “#” commands, you won’t notice. We don’t normally use this toolbut it’s a lot easier to distribute and compile than the GUI we use.
The “!” (exclamation point, no quotes when you use it) sends a file. The “#” (pound sign, no quotes when you use it) sends a script. In both cases, you name the file right after the symbol.
—————————————————————————–Basic instructions—————————————————————————–Note: these are the bare bones instructions. Please don’t come to uslooking for more detailed instructions.
Preparation1) Copy the FirmwareBundles and CustomPackages directories into your PwnageTool.app/Contents/Resources directory2) Create a custom 2.2.1 ipsw with PwnageTool in Advanced mode. Don’t enable custom boot logos. 3) From your custom 2.2.1 ipsw, extract these (patched) files: iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu (name it iBSS221pwn.dfu) iBoot.n72ap.RELEASE.img3 (name it iBoot221pwn.img3)4) From the official 2.1.1 ipsw, extract this (unpatched) file: iBSS.n72ap.RELEASE.dfu (name it iBSS211.dfu)
Installing the jailbroken custom ipsw5) Put your ipt2g into DFU mode using keypresses. Don’t have iTunes running!6) Start rslite. Send the official iBSS from 2.1.1: !iBSS211.dfu7) Start rslite again. Send the redsn0w-lite patch: #pwn211ibss.txt Send the patched iBSS from 2.2.1: !iBSS221pwn.dfu9) Use iTunes to do a full restore using your custom 2.2.1 ipsw
Tethered bootAfter the install, your ipt2g will not be bootable without assistancefrom a tethered computer. The method in this README.txt requires youto go into DFU mode, but you should be able to find (or work out onyour own) other more convenient ways.10) Repeat steps 5-811) Send the patched iBoot from 2.2.1: !iBoot221pwn.img3
Your homescreen should soon show up. You can then start iTunes.

How to Install Winterboard from Cydia

Ziphone Blog
If iPhone is a revolution, Cydia is the application that has given the ‘hush-hush’ jailbreaking/ unlocked iPhones a new recognition. However, the perfect blend comes with the installation of the much talked about theming tool – Winterboard from Cydia. But, what is driving people crazy over your Winterboard and gaga over Cydia? It is nothing but the zeal to create a customized look for the iPhone and iPod, that’s getting the people hooked up to this ‘wonder’ theming tool.

One of the important aspects about installing Winterboard is that, you need to have Cydia installed first and for that you need a jailbroken/ unlocked iPhone to start with. The beauty of Winterboard is that, it can handle everything from basic themes like wallpaper, status bar, dock, etc to entire themes for the customization of the complete system UI, including features like backgrounds, buttons and sounds. Presuming you already have an unlocked/jailbroken iPhone installed with Cydia; here is a step-by-step guide on:

• Installing WinterBoard from Cydia
• Installing themes from Cydia
• Applying selected theme(s) to WinterBoard
• Removing themes from WinterBoard

Installing WinterBoard from Cydia

After launching Cydia by simply tapping the Cydia icon on your Homescreen, go to the search section of Cydia by tapping the ‘Search’ icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Then enter WinterBoard in the search box at the top of your screen, and scroll down to locate WinterBoard in the list. Then tap to select the WinterBoard application then tap ‘Install’ button at the top right. On completion of the installation, Cydia will restart your device.

Downgrade iPhone Firmware 2.2 to 2.1

Ziphone Blog
Firmware update 2.2 surprised a few people who accidentally updated their iPhone. If that happened to you, you now have 2 choices: either stay and 2.2 and wait for the Dev Team to come up with a jailbreak method for 2.2, or you can try to downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1.

I personally don’t have this issue. I haven’t updated to 2.2 but I figured that some of you guys may have, so I started looking for a solution to post here. The problem is there doesn’t seem to be a solution that works for one main reason: 2.2 updates your baseband and once your baseband is updated, you can’t downgrade it to 2.1 (not as yet anyway).

From what I read, only 2-3 people were actually able to get their iPhone back to 2.1 without issues but it is very unclear what they did exactly… Now let’s have a look at these different methods that supposedly show you how to downgrade from iPhone firmware 2.2 to 2.1.

Note that I haven’t tried this and I do not approve it. If you choose to try any of these methods, understand that you’re doing it at your own risks. If I were you, I would just wait for a new jailbreak method by the Unlocker Team.

For downgrading iPhone Firmware 2.2 to an earlier version you will need to downgrade the baseband and firmware, for this following software are needed:

1) ZiPhone patched by kIREmK for Downgrade
2) Unlocker iPhone for Unlocking
1) Use Ziphone to downgrade the baseband using the settings as shown below.

2) Now restore the firmware to an earlier version using the IPSW file via iTunes, if you receive errors during this procedure simply ignore and proceed further.

3) Now, use Quickpwn to unlock and jailbreak using the same firmware flash file used to restore in previous step.

4) Your iPhone should be jailborken and unlocked now.

First you need to download iPhone firmware 2.1 (for 1st iPhone, use this download link and for iPhone 3G, use this download link).
You can then follow these steps to downgrade from iPhone firmware 2.2 to firmware 2.1:
Connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC select your iPhone from the list of devices in iTunes. If things had gone horribly wrong while hacking your iPhone and iTunes does not detect your iPhone then you will need to put it in DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode.
You can follow these steps to put your iPhone in DFU mode (this is required only if iTunes does not recognize your iPhone):
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
Turn iPhone off.
Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
Release power but keep holding home until the computers beeps (observed on a PC) as a USB device is recognized.
A few seconds later iTunes should detect your iPhone.
In the Summary Tab, Hold down Option and press the “Restore” button. If you are using Windows hold down Shift and press the Restore button. (This is an important step as just pressing the “Restore” button will result in restoring your iPhone with the latest firmware which is firmware 2.2 currently, by holding down Option in case of Mac or Shift in case of Windows, allows you choose the firmware file that you want to downgrade to.)

You should be able to see all the older iPhone firmware files you had downloaded so far, select iPhone firmware 2.1 file (iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw) to restore your iPhone or browse to the folder where you have downloaded it and select it.
You might get the any of the following errors: 1011, 1013, 1015, you can ignore them. However, if you get errors such as: 1601, 1602, 1600 or anything else then try putting the iPhone into DFU mode and try again.
Your iPhone should now be restored to iPhone firmware 2.1 (Settings -> General -> About). You can then jailbreak and unlock your 1st gen iPhone or jailbreak iPhone 3G.

How to Downgrade Baseband 2.30.03 to 2.28.00

Ziphone Blog
Since firmware 2.2.1 came out and updated the baseband from 2.28.00 to 2.30.03, many people accidentally updated, and are now stuck on baseband 2.30.03. I wonder how you can “accidentally update” your firmware as it takes a few steps, but anyways… I’ve had a few emails from people asking me how to downgrade baseband 2.30.03 to 2.28.08.

If you’re looking to unlock your iPhone , you can’t do that as long as you will on baseband 2.30.03. Unfortunately, you can not downgrade baseband 2.30.03 to 2.28.00! Sorry folks but you should have read the Unlocker Team warning!

Now the good news is that I’m very confident the Team is working on updating YellowSn0w so it works with firmware 2.2.1, baseband 2.30.03.

You can still downgrade your firmware from 2.2.1 to 2.2 in iTunes by hitting SHIFT + RESTORE and selecting firmware 2.2 but you will most likely have errors and even if you manage to downgrade, you still won’t be able to downgrade the baseband.

Step-by-Step Guide to Downgrade from iPhone Firmware 2.2.1 to Firmware 2.2

Ziphone Blog

One of the most common problems after Apple releases its the latest firmware update for the iPhone is that some users who have jailbroken their iPhone end up losing the jailbreak and all the jailbreak iPhone apps and if they have unlocked their iPhone end up locking their iPhone if they accidentally upgrade to the latest firmware update.

So when Apple released iPhone firmware 2.2.1 on Tuesday, quite a few readers ended up accidentally upgrading their iPhones to the latest firmware update despite the warning from the iPhone Dev team.

One of our readers, ezio-xb just commented on our step-by-step guide to downgrade from iPhone firmware 2.2 to 2.1 to tell us that he was able to successfully downgrade his iPhone 3G back to firmware 2.2 and jailbreak it. We have updated the guide to downgrade from iPhone firmware 2.2.1 to firmware 2.2.
Few things you should know based on our post yesterday if you have upgraded to iPhone firmware 2.2.1:

1st gen iPhone users: Since the update does not touch the baseband of the 1st gen iPhone your unlock will remain in place. However to jailbreak your 1st gen iPhone you will need to either wait for the dev team to release updated versions of PwnageTool and QuickPwn tools which will let you jailbreak your 1st gen iPhone running firmware 2.2.1 or use this guide to first downgrade to firmware 2.2 and then jailbreak it.
iPhone 3G users: The Unlocker Team should soon release updated versions of their Xiphone and Xiphone tools to jailbreak your iPhone 3G running firmware 2.2.1 or or use this guide to first downgrade to firmware 2.2 and then jailbreak it. But since the latest firmware updates iPhone 3G's baseband to 02.30.03, you will not be able to unlock it even after downgrading to firmware 2.2. You will need to wait for some time for the Dev team can unlock baseband 02.30.03.
Please remember that hacking your iPhone could result in voiding your warranty so please proceed with caution.
Before we start with the step-by-step guide, you need to first download iPhone firmware 2.2 (for 1st Gen iPhone, use this direct download link and for iPhone 3G, use this direct download link).
You can then follow these steps to downgrade from iPhone firmware 2.2.1 to firmware 2.2:

Connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC and select your iPhone from the list of devices in iTunes.
In the Summary Tab, Hold down Option and press the "Restore" button. If you are using Windows hold down Shift and press the Restore button. (This is an important step as just pressing the "Restore" button will result in restoring your iPhone with the latest firmware which is firmware 2.2 currently, by holding down Option in case of Mac or Shift in case of Windows, allows you choose the firmware file that you want to downgrade to.)

You should be able to see all the older iPhone firmware files you had downloaded so far, select iPhone firmware 2.2 file from the download link mentioned earlier (1st Gen iPhone: iPhone1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw or iPhone 3G: iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw) to restore your iPhone or browse to the folder where you have downloaded it and select it.
You might get the any of the following errors: 1011, 1013, 1015, you can ignore them. However, if you get errors such as: 1601, 1602, 1600 or anything else then try putting the iPhone into DFU mode and try again.
Your iPhone should now be restored to iPhone firmware 2.2. You can check by going to Settings -> General -> About and looking for Version, it should read 2.2 (5G77).
The last step is to set up your iPhone from a backup

Update:

If you got 10xx error by following the steps mentioned above then follow the steps mentioned below suggested by reader, jeffwg:

1. Disconnect the iPhone3G from iTunes when it comes across the error 1013. (Actually the firmware 2.2 is already successfully installed)
2. Launch Quickpwn 2.2-1 (download links are available in our step by step guides for Mac users or for Windows users), at this time, quickpwn will pop up a window telling you to hold down both of the power & home buttons for 15 seconds then release the home button but keep holding the power button for another 2 seconds to re-activate your iPhone3G.
3. Then you will see a white apple as usual and the iPhone 3G is now re-activating.
4. You can see a normal screen with those lovely icons and your service back to normal.
5. Jailbreak it using the ready launched Quickpwn tool.

Thanks jeffwg!

We haven't tried this yet on the iPhone 3G as we haven't upgraded to iPhone firmware 2.2.1. One of our readers, ezio-xb has reported that he was able to use this procedure to downgrade his iPhone 3G from firmware 2.2.1 to firmware 2.2 and then successfully jailbreak it.

He commented:

"FYI; I just made the BIG mistake to update my Jailbraked 3g-iPhone with 2.2.1 (with the Safari blah blah update) which totally mess up my phone and put it back to "normal".
I found your guide and I downgrade back to 2.2 using the ...shift+restore option that you suggest for previously firmware in the upper article (!than you!)
After all the process and the long restore point I was able also to Jailbreak and now works as it was before and just need to fix my icons."

How to Hard Reset your iPhone/iPhone 3G

Ziphone Blog

Some time it takes a bit long to get response from your iPhone,Some time’s iTune refuses to sync or crashed during syncing most usually after the Firmware update,Some time iphone become sluggish after using two or three months if you are also facing these kinds of problem then go for hard resetingg your iPhone as described below.

Apple Support documented how to perform a reset. However, note that resetting the iPhone or iPod is not the same with restoring the iPhone or iPod. Restore will erase and wipe out completely all information and data that contained inside the device,

1. Press the sleep/wake button and the home button simultaneously for more than 12-15 seconds, ignore the “Slide to power off” and keep holding.

2. The iPhone would go blank after few seconds and would automatically shut down.
3. Wait for ~10 to 15 seconds and then turn the iPhone back on by hitting the sleep/wake button.
4. You should now see the Apple logo, your iPhone is restarting and thus booting up.
5. Your iPhone will now reboot. Hard Reset process is complete.

That’s it……..

How to Downgrade iPhone 3G Firmware 2.2.1 to 2.2

How to Downgrade iPhone 3G Firmware 2.2.1 to 2.2
Follow these steps to downgrade from iPhone firmware 2.2.1 to firmware 2.2 or 2.1:

* Connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC and select your iPhone from the list of devices in iTunes. If things had gone horribly wrong while hacking your iPhone and iTunes does not detect your iPhone then you will need to put it in DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode.

o You can follow these steps to put your iPhone in DFU mode (this is required only if iTunes does not recognize your iPhone):
+ Connect your iPhone to your computer.
+ Turn iPhone off.
+ Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
+ Release power but keep holding home until the computers beeps (observed on a PC) as a USB device is recognized.
+ A few seconds later iTunes should detect your iPhone.

* In the Summary Tab, Hold down Option and press the “Restore” button. If you are using Windows hold down Shift and press the Restore button. (This is an important step as just pressing the “Restore” button will result in restoring your iPhone with the latest firmware which is firmware 2.2.1 currently, by holding down Option in case of Mac or Shift in case of Windows, allows you choose the firmware file that you want to downgrade to.)

iPhone OS 2.2.1 Doesn’t Affect Jailbreak but Unlocking Affected.

There is an iPhone and iPod update available in iTunes - it is numbered 2.2.1 (5H11a). Please DO NOT update. We will investigate and report back to you ASAP,” says the team on its blog. A video explaining what the update means is also available on behalf of the dev team.
- 2.2.1 does not break the dev team’s methods of jailbreak;
- 2.2.1 breaks the 3g software unlock;
- 2.2.1 does not break iPhone 2G unlock since the 2G baseband is not updated.

Those who benefit from using a jailbroken device are advised to wait until the dev team comes up with a solution to upgrade to 2.2.1 without losing the unlock.

MMS capability hitting soon to iPhone.

Finally the most awaited missing functionality of iPhone MMS has to come sooner or later. MacBlogz reports that AT&T is working on a wireless network caching method which will involve sending of compressed and cached image links as SMS messages instead of images.According to ATT ” We propose a wireless network cache model to facilitate the cooperative proxy caching in wireless base stations A self-configured and adaptive virtual proxy graph (VPG) is used to achieve efficient data search, data cache and date replication Based on demand, the aggregate effect of data caching, searching and replicating actions by individual proxies automatically distributes cached web documents closer to the interested mobile clients Our performance study demonstrates that the proposed individual-based wireless proxy caching scheme outperforms existing caching schemes in terms of different performance metrics. ”
This is the first step in allowing iPhones to view MMS messages without going through all of the third party applications or secret trick’s. Lack of MMS support is a pain for many iPhone users even though there are other alternatives to send/receive pictures via email from iPhone. The problem with sending images from iPhone to iPhone is the lack of native support to view images. Third-party applications like Flutter have tried to bring mms on iphone, but with restrictions on how messages are sent and received.

ZiPhone 2.2.1 released - takes iPhone jailbreaking/unlocking to new levels

Right. We’re still waiting on Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) to release the next iPhone OS on us and Zibri has already released an updated ZiPhone utility. The new ZiPhone 2.2.1 brings with it a handful of bug fixes and new plug-in support.

ZiPhone is the simple, one-click (well, it takes a few clicks, but who’s counting?) jailbreak and unlock solution for any and all iPhones and iPod Touches out there. ZiPhone 2.2.1 rocks the same features as all previous versions (including fixes for NVRAM problems), so the interface is the same ZiPhone UI that we’re all fond of and familiar with.

You’ll find a new button that will fix any WiFi issues you might be have after a ZiPhone-based jailbreak and unlock. And, with ZiPhone 2.2.1’s plug-in support, you can take iPhone customization to new levels. We’ll keep an eye out for the latest and greatest ZiPhone plug-ins…

iPhone 2.2.1 Jailbreak Is Here

The just released the Jailbreak Unlock app, which jailbreak 2.2.1 iPhones on Macs. If you're ever going to SIM unlock your phone in the future (use it on another network), use this, not App.

For people with 10.5.6, you're going to have to re-enable DFU mode in order to run Jailbreak. The Unlocker iPhone has instructions on how to do that, but after you're done, you should disable DFU mode by running the steps backwards, as we documented here. It may screw up your machine if you don't. [Unlock iPhone 3G Team]

Apple iPhone application protection cracked

Considering that many of the applications sold on Apple's app store for the iPhone and iPod touch are, shall we say, less than useful, a new utility called Crackulous might be appealing to those that aren't interested in paying for the various applications on offer from the app store.

The downside being that someone must've already bought the application in question to be able to strip the copy protection with Crackulous. This isn't a strictly legal application either for that matter and we have a feeling that Apple's lawyers will have a word or two to say about Crackulous.

However, for those that want to share their applications with family and friends, this might just be what the doctor has ordered. We also have a feeling that we'll see a lot more iPhone applications on various file sharing sites from now on. Crackulous is said to work with all of the app store programs and a beta version is available for download as of right now.

Adobe CEO: Flash on iPhone not so easy

The work at Adobe Systems toward getting its nearly ubiquitous Flash technology onto the Apple iPhone goes on...and on, and on.

Speaking with the Bloomberg news service on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen acknowledged that even after months of striving, a workable version of Flash for the iPhone remains a tough nut to crack.

No Flash for you--not yet, anyway.

"It's a hard technical challenge, and that's part of the reason Apple and Adobe are collaborating," Narayen told Bloomberg Television. "The ball is in our court. The onus is on us to deliver."

How much exactly are the two companies collaborating? Some reaction to the Bloomberg report has taken Narayen's words to suggest that Apple is pitching in like never before. But we've seen that kind of generality before in regard to Flash for the iPhone, dating back to March 2008, when Adobe first confirmed that it was working to bring Flash apps to the iPhone. And even then, it was apparent that this would not be a simple chore.

As Adobe said at the time: "To bring the full capabilities of Flash to the iPhone Web-browsing experience we do need to work with Apple beyond and above what is available through the SDK (the iPhone software development kit) and the current license around it."

Two weeks before that, in early March, Apple CEO Steve Jobs had thrown cold water on hopes for a happy Flash-iPhone coexistence. The PC version of Flash, he said, "performs too slow to be useful" on the iPhone, while the Flash Lite version for mobile phones "is not capable of being used with the Web."

However far along Adobe actually is with reconfiguring Flash for the iPhone, it will need a definitive thumbs-up from Apple to bring the technology to the public.

So perhaps we should be paying more attention to this part of Narayen's statement to Bloomberg: "The onus is on us to deliver."

In November, Adobe talked up a new push to broaden the use of Flash on mobile phones. "We are in the midst of evolving Flash Player 10 for mobile," Chief Technology Officer Kevin Lynch said at the time. "We're taking the full Flash Player and making that run on the higher end of the mobile market." Conspicuously absent from the presentation was the iPhone.

Lynch said in the November presentation that the company was confident enough to move up its goals for making phones Flash-enabled. "We're actually going to get 1 billion Flash-enabled phones by 2009," he said
